Jesus and the Father
John 6:37-40
However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.”

Christ and creation
Colossians 1:15-17
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

Jesus comes across with such meekness that we can be disarmed by his humility but through him the whole of creation was formed. He is the one who holds the whole of creation together. This gives us confidence that we are secure in his creation.
Christ and Church
Colossians 1:18-20
Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
Questions for reflection or discussion
- What is Jesus’ relationship with God’s people?
- How do we relate with others of God's people?
Thoughts to consider
All God’s people come from a place of rebellion against him. Jesus reconciled us to himself through his death. All of us live through what Jesus did. All people in the Church continue to fail and all continue to be saved. We are together as people grateful to Jesus.
Jesus, God revealed
Hebrews 1:1-4
Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.
Questions for reflection or discussion
- What is the relationship between God and Jesus, the son?

When Jesus was on earth he was unassuming and did not demand any position from people, yet he was worthy of all authority in heaven and on earth. He is worthy of all our honour just by who he is, but doubly so because of the respectful and merciful way he treats us.
